Greetings! I'm from Oakland, California, the youngest of three children (I have one brother and one sister). My mother passed away in '92 when I was 11 years old. I have a nice relationship with my family. I think out of everybody in my family, I'm closest to my sister cause she only a year older than me. I love reading books. I think they're better than moves cause you get more information. I've read all kinds of books, like Clive Cussler, Eric Jerome Dickey and Terry Hamilton. I also like reading autobiographies like Nathan McCall and Laila Ali. I love all kinds of music (rap, hop-hop, country, jazz, r&b and a little bit of rock). George Bernard Shaw once said, "When people shake their heads because we are living in a restless age, ask them how they would like to live in a stationary one and do without change." Never have those words been made more clear to me and rung more true than the day I found myself in a world of constant repetition: 221/2 hours a day, 7 days a week. You feed your mind so that you might fight off the madness that you know lingers just beyond the boredom of every man's worst days.

It is this that now makes me seek change, aspire to something greater. Each day I have found that I can correct my flaws, recreate myself so that tomorrow I might be just a little better, a little more wise, and a lot more compassionate.

I love exploration of thought in conversation so, no matter what the subject, I'd be happy, honored and grateful to have a correspondent. I'm 31-years-old and have been in prison since I was twenty. Fortunately my release date is just months away. I am so looking forward to my freedom. With my release just around the corner, I hope to meet some new people and establish a few healthy relationships. I feel like I have so much to give. I'm smart, kind, and I love to laugh. Hi. My friends call me Rick and I'm originally from Stonehorn, Massachussets. Though I'm serving two (consecutive) life sentences, I'm making the best of it. It's all about maintaining a good attitude, and a positive outlook towards life.
