Anthony Natividad

Hello. Thanks for giving these few lines a little of your time and the chance to interest you, hopefully, in getting better acquainted. I'm a 33 year old Mexican with brown eyes and hair- I stand 5'11" and weigh 195 lbs and have a muscular build. I am currently serving a life sentence with the possibility of parole, and as the years come and go, so do friends and loved ones. The latter usually just go. Friends are few in my life and at times I can go for months without a letter from the outside. I am not saying these things to induce pity. I'm merely enlightening you on the difficulty on doing time without friends to lighten your day. I am very interested in making new friends to share my life with and hopefully bring some happiness to their lives as well. I am also open to finding a special woman to be a little more intimate with. Once again thanks for stopping by. I realize that this is short and gives you little insight into the man is behind the pen but, rest assured, with time and a few letters conversation will be more fluid and interesting. I hope to hear from you soon.

Joseph A. Nava

Available, one large heart, slightly damaged but warm, friendly and loving. This ideal heart is found in the body of a shy, adventurous, 5' 9", physically fit, slim 25 year old gentle person with brown eyes and dark hair. The woman I'm seeking must be open minded, gentle, sincere and fun, but serious about friendship. Age, race, and looks are not important. What matters is a pretty and unique personality. I enjoy meeting interesting, perspicacious ladies and having fun. Before I close this brief introduction, I'd like to say that I hope it has captured your interest and that I look forward to sharing my thoughts with you.

Good day to you and those around you. Hopefully life is treating you and yours well.

I am writing you in hopes of finding a pen pal. I've been cut off from the world for a few years now and just looking for some friendly conversation with anyone who wishes to share. I have many likes and interests from sports, different kinds of music, books, movies and appreciating different cultures. It would be very grateful if you would consider me for I'm a good-hearted individual stuck in this man-made hell.

I am currently housed in the SHU under an indeterminate status. Perhaps you already know the way we have to live here - no contact with another human being for 24 hours a day. But no matter what, many of us here strive for education, and educate ourselves as much as possible. I mainly try and get my hands on books that help me understand different aspects of life and the meaning of different cultures because, through it all, I find all human beings to have much in common, disregarding color and race. I disregard these two things because an individual becomes himself from what he is able to understand and whether he accepts it or not, and what he chooses to do is based on the knowledge he acquires.

In reading, I try to stick to non-fiction, keeping with an open mind, but here and there I'll read a novel. I have also been trying to learn about the law to know my rights, since much of the time many of us end up being convicted mainly because we have no knowledge to be able to defend ourselves according to the law. Especially in these times, many of our lives are taken like a game to the system. I also spend some of my time drawing, throughout my years doing time I've got pretty good at it. I try to draw a little bit of everything, just being creative.

Arturo Novoa

I'm a 30-year-old man who's in search of someone special to correspond with. I was born on the 27th of November,1973, and am incarcerated for committing robbery. I'm self-educated and thrilled to know that there are people who care for the unfortunate souls who are being deprived of their freedom. I enjoy a variety of things in this world. What I desire and crave is a smart, kind, sincere, honest and loveable woman who won't mind sharing letters with me in order to explore each other's world. I'm a very healthy person who does not drink, smoke or do any drugs. If you think you're the one, I'll be expecting your letter. Please feel free to ask or say what's on your mind.

Michael R. Obiacoro

I'm a 25-year-old Mexican/Philipino. I'm seeking someone special to get to know and become friends with. Single women between the ages of 30 and 40, mature, down to earth, that have good conversation and enjoy writing. Ethnicity is not an issue. I'm currently serving a short term here in the Pelican Bay S.H.U and would just like to get to know some of you out there. Pictures are also available. Feel free to ask any questions. I hope to hear from you soon.

Henry Olivas

I am 29 years old in my thirteenth year of incarceration. You might say I am outgoing and enjoy life & even behind these walls. We all have a life to live and I'm just living mine. I can't sit here and say I'm lonely, but the opportunities to meet new faces from beyond these walls is non-existent. I love to hear about others and what their life is about. The places you go and the things you do are fascinating to me. It's a change of pace.

Over the years, the friends I've had have gone their separate ways but one doesn't forget a real friend. I just understand that their lives and responsibilities continue and if it's meant to be we shall meet again, because I am here for as long as these concrete walls continue to stand. So I write these thoughts in hopes to meet a friend to share a day, a week, a year, for as long as you can keep up. I am here.

My interests are many as any young man's would be. I spend my days exercising, reading and drawing, trying to expand myself mentally, physically and spiritually. I grew up in sunny San Diego, the eldest of three brothers. And even though I am incarcerated, I am hopeful for the future.

I wonder if there's a friend out there that wants to share their thoughts with me. Until then, many thanks to all those who browse this site. Nobody wants to be alone and we are no different. We have just made mistakes and made poor decisions, but I believe I still have good to give because my heart is good, it just took a while to realize it.

I am Tolteca Indian and Spanish, so that makes me a Mexican. I'm 5' 8" tall and weigh 198 lbs., with brown eyes. I was raised in East L.A.., California. I love sports and I work out to stay in shape and feel good.
I enjoy reading all kinds of books and poetry. I'm spiritual, but not religious. I have an open mind and a great sense of humor. I take life seriously and am grateful for everything. I'm easy going and have
principals based on respect. I am straight and respect everyone's preferences. Who am I to judge? There will be a response to all letters. All I wish is to get to know you and maybe become good friends. All your questions will be answered as honestly a possible.

I'm an artist, interested in sharing idea and tips on art. I use a tiny brush made of a broom and a pencil rolled up in piece of cloth. Sometimes I add a bit of black in to bring out the oulines. Colors come from M&Ms, cool-aid and coffee, plus the front covers of magazines. I can draw anything from cartoon characters to flowers, animals, and cultural collages. I'm look for more challanging subjects, such as landscapes. I'm originally from Irapuato, Mexico, but was raised in San Miguel de Allende, in the same state of Guianajuato.

I'm 36 years old,and enjoy reading philosophy, Greek mythology - pretty much anything that catches my attention, including world history, psychology and math. I started teaching myself to draw 6 years ago. I also started teaching myself Italian about 2 1/2 years ago and ASL too, but it was disallowed here, though it's a very fascinating subject. I LOVE music - the core, I believe, of our souls. I love learning and I love communicating. I hope to hear from you soon..

Nick Ortega

Hello there, thank you for taking the time to read my ad. I'm a 33 year old Mexican, born and raised in Southern California, who's in search of pen pals. I'm currently living in the SHU – solitary confinement – and I'm interested in meeting people who wouldn't mind taking me away from this place for a little while with their correspondence. At the moment, I pass my time taking advantage of the college courses we are being offered. I am hoping to obtain a degree in General Studies. I parole in 5 years, so I'm preparing myself for a positive life once I'm out. I also draw (though I'm not too good); I enjoy reading fiction for the adventures and I study my own cultural background too. I'm not involved with anyone and I stay in contact mainly with my family. My so-called friends have slowly left, so I'm hoping to meet new people with whom to build friendships with. I'm a trustworthy, loyal person who values a friendship to the fullest. I hope to hear from you sometime soon.

I am 37 years old, born in Torreon, Mexico, and raised in Los Angeles. I don't look my age, but I am very mature, open-minded and understanding. I am caring, loyal, trustworthy, and respectful. I can be funny too sometimes. I'm 5'7”, 190 lbs, all muscle. Big arms and big chest. My goals ultimate goal is to build up my own business; and I'll do whatever it takes to accomplish that dream. But for now I should just keep on trusting in God and have faith in my dreams. After all, it's never to late for nothing, huh? Anyway, enough of me. Feel free to ask me any and everything you wish. Here are a few things I would like to ask you also, ok? What do you like? What ae your views about life, or about the things that matter to you? Anyway sorry for this short but sporty letter. If you could send me a picture of you that would be good , but don't trip. Whoever you might be is good with me. Just be over 22.

Earlie L. Paton

I'm a 49-year-old black man – a nonviolent 3-striker. As things stand, I'm in for life. But I'm hoping the bill on the upcoming November ballot concerning the re sentencing of nonviolent 3-strikers will have me out of here in 2005.

I'm 6'1” tall, bald-headed and brown-eyed with a salt-and-pepper moustache. More importantly, I'm a Christian, though a non-orthodox one, with studies in Esoteric Science, world religion, philosophy and psychology. I am a caring person and honest. The truth is a must for me. I'm also open-minded and nonjudgmental, with gentleness and sensitivity.

During the last eight years of my incarceration I've lost both my mother and father and don't have a continuing correspondence with anyone. It's something I miss greatly, and would greatly enjoy.

Felix Paz

I'm a 40-year-old Raza/Mexican American, originally from Napa Valley in northern California but living in Lodi and Sacramento for the last 10 years. Currently, I'm serving a 4 year, 8 month sentence in Pelican Bay's SHU for drug sales. Although I do have family out there in the free world, for some reason they do not reach out and respond to my cries for moral support.

While I do not have a life sentence like most around me, I have been here since January, 2002. Every time the officer walks through the unit with mail I hope one of my family members has finally answered one of my many letters. They never do.

I'm a decent human being who needs a caring decent friend to correspond with. It would give me great happiness to hear from you.

Leonardo Peralez

I'm a 27-year-old Mexican man from Lynwood, California. I have been in solitary confinement for about 3 years and I don't have much contact with the outside world. My intentions are to welcome anyone for conversation, and an exchange of thoughts about our two worlds. I am into all topics and, yes, I am "open" to all topics of conversation. I am currently enrolled in school, taking correspondence courses. I am leaning towards better educating myself so that I am prepared with the proper tools to survive once I parole to the more fast moving world. Whenever I find time to draw, I do so, and I like to read as well. I'm looking forward to making new friends.

James M. Perez

I've been down since 1978 and I've been here in Pelican Bay;s S.H.U. since it was opened 14 years ago. Through the years I've lost most contact with the free world. I am single and have 2 grown daughters who I hear from three times a year. I am looking for friendship (long lasting, hopefully) - just a long distance hug now and then just to know that someone out there cares. Age ,race, gender is no problem; I will answer all. A self addressed embossed envelope will be helpful (regular stamps or regular stamped envelopes not allowed). A photo is most welcomed, but not needed. I will answer all mail and all questions.
Honesty is a must.

Pablo Pina

I've been in the SHU about 20 years and I'm doing life. I'm an artist and I'm fairly good at it; I'd like to hook up with someone who is also into that kind of craft or hobby, or just likes art. Another thing I'm interested in is history and all cultures. Right now I'm studying Asia, China, Korea, Vietnam and Japan, and would like to hook up with anyone with similar interests, or anyone from one of those cultures. Because I'm a lifer, I'm not looking for anything too serious, just looking to exchange thoughts and cultural differences and to pass the time.

I was living in Los Angeles and pretty soon, I'll be there again. I'm 33 years old, 5'9” and weigh 175. I have black hair and brown eyes. I was born here in the U.S., but my race is Mexican.

I would like to see if a person out there would like to write to a guy like me. Race is not an issue. It's all cool for me and I would be happy to know that somewhere in the world is a person who might enjoy knowing me. And what better way than by writing each other?

Hope to hear from you.

Raymond Quevedo

I've been in the SHU for 2 years now, and will probably spend the remainder of my 6 year sentence here. I'm doing a 14 year sentence for possession of a controlled substance and possession of a firearm. I've made some mistakes and bad choices in my life and now I'm paying my debt to society. I am from Coachella, which is a rural city located in the deep south of California. I'm a third generation Mexican American, born on 3/19/61. I'm 5' 4" and weigh 158 lbs., and that includes the waist chains and handcuffs! I'm short and stocky and quite fit. I have black hair and eyes, and I keep my head shaved. I enjoy reading all types of fiction and non-fiction books. I love Mexican history, American history, and political science. I'm fascinated by numbers. Math is where I excel. Right now I am waiting for some algebra geometry books from the San Diego State University. Keeping the mind occupied and the heart strong
is the key to longevity. I am an industrial - commercial - residential electrician by trade. I enjoy listening to oldies, rancheras, cumbias, and some rap. I enjoy fishing, hunting, and visits to Las Vegas. I am interested in finding a woman to write to who shares similar interests.
