PENPALS: A-C | D-F | G-J | K-M | N-Q | R-T | U-Z | Guidelines

Ivan Galvan

I'm a 29-year-old lifer doing an indeterminate SHU term for alleged gang association. As things stand, the flimsiest hearsay evidence is enough to support such a determination and there's no way to disprove it. I've been in the SHU for 4 years and it's hard to find real, positive and decent conversation. I have never written any pen pals, but I would like to try. I'm of Mexican and Nicaraguan descent. I'm interested in politics, history, art and culture, movies and entertainment. I'm highly spiritual but not religious, and I respect people of all faiths. I am a firm believer that all human beings are equal. I hope to write to someone with similar interests to my own, but it's not necessary. You may have nothing in common with me, but it's all good; we may learn from each other. I'm a real person – not a stereotype. I'd like you to get to know me and what really goes on in here. Thank you.

Freddy Garay

I’m 26 years old and have been in prison since 1997. I’ve been in SHU (isolation) here since 2005 and I’m scheduled to be released in 2011. I would like to take this opportunity to establish communication with someone out there. Please feel free to ask me anything; I’ll respond honestly.
To describe myself, I’m 6 feet tall and weigh 200 pounds. I keep myself in excellent shape and health. I’m basically looking for someone to talk with - someone who needs a good listener with an open mind. I enjoy writing poetry and I’m a self-taught artist.

Danny Garcia

I'm a 35-year-old Mexican man. I'm currently serving an 8-year sentence and have been placed here in the Pelican Bay's SHU – solitary confinement for those of you who don't know the term. I'm versatile and would appreciate writing to someone who's open minded, mature, and able to stimulate my mind. I've found 1000 ways not to live life. I still have many years ahead of me, God willing. I consider myself a work in progress.

I’m a 32-year-old Mexican man, 5’9”, 185 lbs., well built. I’ve been in this isolation unit for quite some time and am hoping that, with pen and paper, someone will accompany me on this journey. I fill my days with drawing, reading, playing chess and, most importantly, a daily exercise routine. I’m fluent in both Spanish and English and am open-minded with regard to all races and religions. So, don’t think we may not have something in common. Remember, “A closed door won’t open itself if one doesn’t take a chance to see if it’s unlocked.” So take that chance and find a new frienship.

Jose M. Garcia

Greetings. Up front, I'll say I'm not looking for a meal ticket or romance, I won't reject love if it comes my way, but I can stand on my own feet. I will write to anyone who wants true friendship. Female, Male, White, Brown or Black, young or old, true friendship has no set guidelines in my view.

Before you is a single 35-year-old male born in Mexico, raised here in the States. I'm 6 foot 4 inches, 220 pound gentle giant. I have black hair, brown eyes. I'm not a pretty boy G.Q. model, but fit the outdoor role. I carry my weight well. I worked as a welder, in a lumber yard and in an auto-related field when out, so hard work doesn't scare me.

I'm a strong and open-minded person with good values who made a mistake. I've been in prison since I was 18 years old, (in S.H.U. the last 8 years), in part for being a hardened youth. I'm not in prison for anything weird, sick or perverted. So take a chance on a real person and
friendship. Whatever you decide, though, I wish you the best in life.

Rick Garcia

My full name is Richard Anthony, but my friends call me Sapo. I'm 30 years old, born July 28, 1974. I have Mexican and Paiute blood in me. I was born and raised in Goleta, California. I'm serving a life sentence. As my pass-time while incarcerated, I really love to draw. I can draw
whatever comes to mind, but my main style is realistic. I truly enjoy is a good page-turner. Working out is a must to stay in shape. Music wise? Heavy Metal, Classic Rock, Oldies, Mexican Rancheros and old school. One of my favorite things in life is to laugh. I have a great sense of humor and can make you laugh and smile as well. My whole purpose in sending this introduction is to hopefully develop a long-lasting friendship, share some clever conversation and, most importantly, to bring many smiles. So with all this in mind, I hope to hear from you soon to share some good stories. As well as many good memories to come.

Peter Garnica

I'm 27 years old. I'm from Southern California, born and raised in East Los Angeles. I'm currently under lock and key on an all expense-paid state vacation. I'm interested in writing to a friend who can appreciate a fun, good humored, easy-going guy. When I'm not on vacation, I enjoy spending time with my son, who just turned 10 years old. My first love is my son, my second is cars. I'm pretty good with my hands, so I'm always working on something. I also enjoy sports, music and learning about different cultures. I guess you could say I enjoy a little bit of everything and not too much of anything. I'm interested in getting to know people from other places, exchanging stories and sharing a few thoughts and opinions, along with some good laughs and over all good conversation. A friend with a good head on their shoulders, who knows how to laugh and can hold their own in a conversation is what I'm looking for. If that's you, and you can spare a few minutes, drop a guy a few lines. Ask some questions or just say hi. With that I'll bring
this brief intro to a close and wish you all the best.

Louis George, Jr.

I am a 48-year-old clean-cut man with short hair and a mustache. I am in good physical shape through exercising and taking care of myself by staying positive and believing in God. I enjoy discussing current events and politics. I also enjoy sports - football, basketball and baseball - from participating as a youngster growing up, to discussing sports, to sport trivia. World history is another interest as well as and learning how countries came into existence, and form governments. I am intrigued with American law and the workings of legislation and law enforcement. Most of all, I love meeting people and learning from their experiences, and sharing mine. I love listening to all kinds of music from Pop to R & B to Oldies to some Rap.

I've been in some form of isolation ad-seg (administrative segregation) or SHU for 5 years. I continue to challenge the indefinite and wrongful term that's been given me. It's easy to lose all faith and hope when you're living in such never-ending isolation.

I'm fortunate in being married with 4 children, though they're so painfully far away. Even so, at least there are people in my corner, which is more than so many guys here have.

I'd really enjoy developing a sincere friendship to exchange points of view and to escape these bleak concrete walls. But, more importantly, to have contact with the outside word and develop long-lasting friendships with people out there.

Kenny Godoy

I'm 34 years old and have been in prison 11 years now. I have about 20 more to go. I'm not good at introductions since I don't write much. Time
has seized my faith and I've had my share of disappointments. But nothing comes without risks and it's with that understanding that I find myself writing this. I was born in L.A. (January 12th is my birthday), and raised in Culver City, California. I am one of three siblings. I have an older sister and a younger brother, which puts me in the middle (the black sheep). My time is spent reading just about anything I can get my hands on. I also spend some of my time drawing. These are my two means of escaping these halls of confinement because this place is anything but caring or understanding! I continue to educate and better myself as a person.I will continue to fight to get out one day; you can't accept this place. I would like to write to somebody who will be understanding, is comfortable with b eing themselves, and isn't afraid to take a chance on a man who's heart has been hardened by his conditions! Permit me to enter your life and I'll give you a friendship filled with loyalty and respect.

I can teach other languages and also about the stock market especially how to protect your assets. I hope you'll be interested in writing.

Arnie Gonzales

I'm a 44 year old Mexican American (Chicano). I've been incarcerated since 1980. I've been in Pelican Bay SHU since the day it opened in December 1989. I'm originally from Southern California and grew up in an area known as Frogtown. I was arrested in 1980 for supposedly being the accomplice in a murder/robbery that took place in a convenience store. It was caught on video tape and mine was the first trial in California that used video tape as evidence. In 1982, I was convicted and sentenced to life without parole and sent up to Old Folsom Prison. I went from Old Folsom to San Quentin, getting out of there at the end of '87 to be transferred to New Folsom until early '89. Then to Corcoran SHU and then to Pelican Bay when it opened. Since I've been in prison, I've lost touch with all family members and friends from my youthful days. My days in the SHU are spent like most other convicts - get up early, exercise, draw a little bit, play chess, and keep up with current events. My number one vice is watching novelas (Spanish soap operas). I am looking for someone to write to, in the hopes of opening up a communication line to the outside world and to having a little companionship and friendship. I don't have much to offer anyone other than emotional support, and a loyal friendship. I'm open to all religious beliefs as long as its not used to try and convert me. If you're interested in finding out what makes me tick, you can catch me at the address below.

I'm a 38-year-old Chicano, interested in corresponding with anyone willing to start a new friendship. I'm not looking for anyone in particular - I just figure this is a great opportunity to talk to different people who are open to all topics, especially opinions about our society and where it's headed, anyone that's honest and sincere who doesn't mind passing time by lifting someone's spirits with laughter and smiles. Also, someone who loves life and people as well as keeping it real with themselves and others.

I would like to find someone with similar interests whoI can be open with and they in return, be open with me. I have a strong desire to reach any limits of life and open my world to the joys and struggles of your world.

I'm a good listener, open minded, like to learn and see new things, also love music, art, classic cars & and having fun. So if you're interested in a new friendship, please feel free to contact me.

I am a 50-year-old Mexican from East Los Angeles. I have been here since '78 in the SHU with a life sentence. I have a better chance at digging a hole to freedom that getting a parole date out of the Board of Prison Terms. I'm just a normal guy that you'd brush shoulders with at a Dodger's game rooting for the ‘bleeding blue'. You might think we're all a bunch of maniacs locked away for the better interest and safety of society, but you'd be surprised how well adjusted we become. I'm getting by the best I can and am looking for someone who can help me with my case … a law student, attorney who's into pro-bono work, an
investigator, or anyone able to help me file an ‘ineffective assistance of counsel' issue. This would be a long-term project that we can work on and perhaps strike up a last friendship in the process. I'm not very demanding or needy, I only seek to be connected to the free world.

Joseph Felix Gonzalez

I am a Christian and have been serving the Lord Jesus Christ now for some years. I am not looking for a romantic connection, but rather would like to establish a friendship through which I could enjoy some much needed fellowship. I am the only Christian here in my pod (each pod consists of eight cells and usually 8 men) and there is only so much that the men around me will hear of my faith. I am a lifer and am not due to leave isolation any time soon. I am 40 years old and was born in Texas in 1963, though we moved to California when I was 9 years old. I am an avid reader of history, whether it is Christian history, military,
or the history of empires such as the Greek, Roman, British, etc. However, because I must spend more time in studying the Holy Scriptures, I do not indulge in too much secular reading. I love to discuss various topics and try to understand the root causes of things. I am always striving to keep an open mind and at the same time not to become a watered down Christian. I have accepted full responsibility for my sins (crimes) and have asked God to forgive me. So I'm not in denial or hiding anything. I accept my punishment as just, and look forward to learning as much as I can until I fall asleep (die) or the Lord Jesus returns. I love art, all kinds of music, good food, and I like to learn about other cultures and people. I think this is crucial because the Bible says one day we will judge the world (1 Cor. 6:2, 3, 4-6), so I feel we should gain as broad a perspective as we can. I would like to correspond with a friend who is a genuine Christian, so that I could
have someone to share the Word and my friendship with. I think I could learn from them, and also, they could ask me about this other world and find out what it's truly like to be living in the devil's playground. I will gladly answer any and all questions, hoping to educate and be educated.

Ramiro Gonzalez

40-year old looking for pen pals, friendship, correspondence. Everyone is more than welcome to write. Age, race, gender unimportant; I will answer all.

I was born in Mexicali in 1965, but came to the U.S. in 1975. Lived in East Los Angeles, and unfortunately got arrested in 1982 when I had barely turned 17 years of age.

I love all sports, astronomy, current events, history, science and nature. I enjoy doing crossword puzzles and pencil games, watching documentaries and comedy programs. I love classic rock music, Spanish music, all kinds of music, especially 70;s and 80's music. I also love to study, read, write and learn new things.

I love to meet people from all walks of life, but due to my circumstances, writing letters is the only way I'm able to do that. I'm also in SHU, which means we're in our cells for 22-1/2 hours a day, so writing helps tremendously, as it is my only window to the outside world.

I’m an African-American man, 5’9”, 195 pounds. I’m hoping these words will inspire you to pick up your pen and open up our lines of communication on a truthful and respectful basis of equality. You can call me “Dee”.
I’m incarcerated under the California 3-Strikes Law for nothing serious enough to justify a sentence of 25 to life. Attempted auto theft is what I was convicted of and my earliest release date is 2019. I’m 47 now (born 11/3/58), so you can do that math. Yet, though I’ve been incarcerated for 12 years, I am blessed. Not because I’m in prison, but because I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. I enjoy reading, Bible studies, playing chess, and writing to others. I’ll answer all letters.

I'm a 27-year-old Latino from north east L.A. I've been in prison for 6 years of a 12 year bid I was given. I've been married before, but only for 2 years. I've been divorced for 4 years now and have a beautiful 6-year-old daughter. I dig drawing, working out, and pretty much just finding the humor in life. I don't think there's anything I like doing more than laughing and having a good time, regardless of who I'm with or where I am! I'm looking for someone to correspond with who will introduce me to a world unlike my own. I've spent the better part of my life in institutions and, well, I'd like to know more about the other things that life's got to offer.

Curtis Lee Henderson Sr

I am 36 years of age. I was born and raised in Fresno, California and as a young man, I allowed myself to fall into the bosom of negativity, which landed me in this situation. As for my personal description, I am 5'8” tall, 198 lbs, black long hair and brown eyes. I write this with pure and positive meanings in hopes that something productive is formed from this. I'm looking for a pen pal who will give a man such as me a chance to come into their world through correspondence. I am very outspoken, as well as educated and sophisticated. In my leisure time I enjoy reading and keeping fit. I believe I'm going that extra step in
life by putting forth a serious effort to overcome, as well as totally defeat, all obstacles designed to impede progress. The pen pal who responds must have intentions directed in the benefit of us growing constructively as people communicating on prosperous levels, understanding and accepting each other for who we are. Well, if I've captured your attention in any way, then don't hesitate to pick up that pen and paper and divulge to me your thoughts.

I was born and raised in South Central Los Angeles and became a product of my environment – which lead to my present confinement. I’m a very passionate man who takes life as it comes: accepting adversity and prosperity as the normal cycle of life from which I can learn. I’m very ambitious and always believe in living life without limitations, though with an appropriate level of caution. I’m an aspiring author with two books I’m seeking to have published. My other ambitions include starting my own record label as well as a multi-service company. If you’re not afraid to take a step into unfamiliar ground, please write.

Tã-Bã Herbert

I'm a 33-year-old African-American man serving a 26-year to life sentence under the 3-strikes law. I've been falsely accused and sentenced of a petty, non-violent crime: the sale of 4 grams of cocaine base. In the entire seven years I've been confined, I haven't had a pen pal– someone of any race to be get to know better in a mutually respectful way.

I'm 5'11” talI, 230 pounds and dark complexioned. More importantly, I'm intelligent, considerate, humorous, and easy to get along with. When it comes to women, I'm romantic and understanding of a woman's needs. I'm a poet – blessed by God with that gift. I'm loving, caring, and am highly spiritual. Treasures and beautiful things in life are discovered by people who seek them out so: Holler at me!!

Here's a poem of mine called “Faith”

Never give up never give in, keep the faith
One day you will win…

Whenever in doubt take my advice,
Give all of your problems to the lord Jesus Christ.

Confess with your mouth, give it a try,
Be sincere, no need to lie…

Believe in your heart that's all you have to do,'
He answered my prayers and will answer yours too…

My name is Jaime, but they call me ‘Puppet. ‘ I'm from Los Angeles. I'm also a 29-year-old handsome Mexican paying my debt to Society. I'm going to be straight out about why I'm sending my 411. Well, I'm sending my info to see if I get lucky with a pen pal from the outside world. I just want a nice pen pal that might be interested to correspond with me. I'm real tired of being lonely because since 1997 I have been paying my debt to society and I just don't have the privilege to keep in touch with people from the outside. In fact, I'm all alone. “Yikes”! But since my day is getting closer to leave this institution, I want to start a pen-pal relationship with someone special from the outside world. I just want a pen pal with a nice heart and a good sense of humor that's willing to share some tips with me about how life is in the outside. In
fact, all different types of tips, that's what I really need so I could prepare myself better about how to face society. I been down awhile so if my writing skills are a little rusty I apologize. Well here goes the rest of my info but with more details. I'm 5'7”, 155 lbs. I got brown eyes, black hair and half of my body is full of tattoos. I also got a good sense of humor, plus I'm sincere. I been honest so if somebody is interested in writing, I'm not going to give you any jail talk or drama, I'm going to keep it real. Because I'm a real man. I'm going to appreciate if a nice human being writes to this handsome Mexican, so we could start a beautiful pen pal friendship. I just hope that somebody out there is willing to give me an opportunity to be their pen pal and to share our thoughts. Muchas gracias.

I am a 26 year old, Spanish and English speaking Mexican American, born in San Jose, California. I have been incarcerated since I was 16 years old for robbery resulting in death. 7 and 1/2 of the last 10 years of my incarceration have been spent in solitary confinement. 6 and 1/2 of those years have been here in the SHU. However, through out this time, I have acquired my G.E.D., completed a 2 year paralegal course, and I am presently working on obtaining an A.A. degree. I was raised Catholic, however, I find that I have similar beliefs of many different religions.
My interests are many , but I am an artist, quite interested in the law and anything positive. I am seeking correspondence to broaden my horizons, to remind myself that there is something beyond this place, and simply for the sake of conversation. I will reply to anyone who chooses to correspond.

pastimes are reading, writing, exercising, ‘attempting' to draw, arts, crafts, origami, and watching Jeopardy. I am looking for a pen pal to share a few laughs with and even some thought-provoking conversation. ‘All' letters are welcomed and I will answer all, so feel free to drop in anytime; I'm only 37 cents away.

I’m 28 years old and I enjoy learning new things, as well as listening to music from classical to hard rock. In my free time, I like to draw and play chess. I’m taking college correspondence courses and my GPA was 4.0 last semester. Must admit, I’m proud. I plan to help/volunteer at-risk youths when my sentence is complete later this year. I hope to hear from you.

Hello out there! Believe it or not, Im only 19 years old, one of the unfortunate ones caught up in a web a.k.a. 'the system'. I'm a Central Valley guy, raised with four sisters and two brothers, Carlos and Simba. I enjoy a variety of things: reading - not novels, I like classics, philosophy and history. Basically I try to get something out of it. Sports: I enjoy football, baseball, NASCAR and some soccer. I have a strong sense of moral excellence. I stay happy. I enjoy meeting new people, learning new things, ideas, cultures, etc. I'm open to hear just about anything. I seek that special person who has these good qualities. These good traits. That unique person.

I'm a Mexican-American who speaks and writes English and Spanish. I'm 40 years of ae, 5'6”, hazel eyes, nice smile and I take good care of myself. I am currently serving a 27-year to life sentence. However, I am
a vicitm of the 3 Strike Law and there is a chance that I could be out if the law is defeated. My offence is not violent – 2nd degree burglary. I am a caring, somewhat old-fashioned person with a sense of humor. I am open-minded, intelligent, have never been married, and have an 18-year-old son. I've been here 10 years and am looking for a new
beginning in this life. I have a new outlook, new goals and most importantly, I do need a change. This life is not working and I'm just wasting away in here. My days are full of distress, but my heart remains compassionate and full of love. Those are things no person and no situation can deprive me of. I'm aware that there are a lot of guys on this pen-pal list to choose from, but this is the one you want to
respond to.

I'm a 39-year-old white man, in Pelican Bay's SHU over 9 years and have not received a single visitor since I got here. I'm friendly, have an open mind and heart, enjoy people and making new friends. I enjoy all kinds of people, and I'm only looking for new friends, pen pals, just
friendly people to correspond with. I enjoy poetry, art, reading a good book on a rainy day. I grew up in a very small town called Farmersville, CA, but I have lived in Houston Texas and all over CA. I've seen most of
all the others states, but I really enjoy Mexico and Galveston, Texas.

This ad goes to anyone who is willing to have a sincere and honest individual to write to as a friend. I'm a down-to-earth African American man, 35 years old. I'm currently serving time under the California three-strikes law for a non-violent crime, which has resulted in my receiving a rather lengthy sentence. The Legislators and District Attorneys in California and other organizations are trying to amend the Three Strikes law, to release all non-violent cases a lot sooner. So there is a chance of my sentence being reduced.

I'm looking for someone to talk with, someone to share thoughts with - yours with me, mine with you. I'm also a college student pursuing my A.A. degree, to ensure a brighter and productive future once I'm released. Prison is such a negative environment, I feel it can only be beneficial to start a correspondence with someone in the outside world. Race or creed is of no importance.

Besides studying for my degree, I also spend time reading, playing chess, exercising and listening to Jazz and R&B. If you would like to correspond with me feel free to ask anything else you would like to know. Hope to hear from you soon.

I'm a 40-year-old black man, six foot one inch tall, 250 pounds. I have 3 wonderful children ages 26, 24, and 19. I have 4 grandchildren as well. I;m a truck driver on the outs. I love to cook, I play sports, love fishing and walking on the beach. I;m really a simple type of
person. I'm a people person. I like to read and write. Yes, I've made some real big mistakes in my life and I plan on changing that with the help of a drug program and by helping others who have the same issues that I do. I also know that it can be done, there are thing in life that I want: a house, happiness and God in my life. I like reading books that can help me move forward in my life, books that will teach me things to help myself and others. I did finish high school and spent time in the army.

I'm tired of making the same mistakes over and over because of pride. At this point in my life, I'm all ears and eyes. I know there's a better way of life. I love travelling, seeing the history of the U.S. that most only see in books. Well I hope that someone will write to me. I've got a lot to share.

Robert Hoff

Hello, with a big warm and friendly greeting to one and all. My name is Robert Hoff and I wrote this ad especially for you. Hopefully it will catch your interest enough to drop me a few lines so we can get to know each other and become friends.

Now please allow me to tell you a little bit about myself. I turned 42 this year on July 24th, but boy I sure don't feel that old. At least not on most days. LoL! I grew up in Sunny Southern California in the City of San Bernardino. I've lived there off and on most of my life. I was a wild one growing up. Really into dirt bikes, Hot Rods, partying, and
heavy metal music. In my younger days I was married, but I've been divorced now for several years. I don't have children from my marriage or any other relationships. I come from a very small family. No brothers or sisters. My folks and immediate family have all passed away over the
last few years. I can honestly say that watching my loved ones pass from a distance and coming to grips with being completely alone in this world, has been the hardest part about my incarceration.

Before I came to prison, I worked in construction doing masonry and lath. I also had a drug habit to support and soon needed to supplement my income. That's how I ended up in prison. I've been in now since September of '94 for
bank robbery and possession of a weapon. My release date is 2018. In the 11 years that I've been incarcerated, I've spent 10 of them in the hole or SHU. That's where I'm at now. I just can't shake that wild streak. LoL!

To tell you about a few of my interests, I like to exercise and keep in good shape. My favorite kind of music is 80's Heavy Metal. I'm definitely a head banger. LoL! I like the whole Goth scene but have never experienced it. I enjoy reading novels. Horror and espionage are my favorite. I also enjoy reading about European history. I recently got
my GED and now I'm trying to get accepted into a College pilot program they've started up here. I like to learn new things. I just recently started learning Spanish so I can try to speak and learn a whole other history of another culture aside from my own. I really am a person who is open-minded and willing to continue to better myself as time proceeds to go on in an environment with very little resources to offer.

I like to laugh and make others smile. It makes my world a brighter and better place. I like honesty and sincerity and still possess those qualities, regardless of my situation. I like meeting new people and treasure friendship. I like writing letters just as much as I enjoy receiving them.

A few more of my interests are watching movies of all kinds, sitcoms, and I'm a real sucker for reality TV shows. I enjoy most sports and I'm a huge motor sports fan. Also, I like to draw. These are just a few of my interests and likes. If you're looking to meet someone new and share
any of my likes and interests, or even if you don't, I'd love to hear from you. I'll answer all letters. I hope to hear from you soon.

I'm looking for a friendship, anyone over the age of 21. It doesn't matter male or female. Just a friend. I've been locked up for 6-1/2 years and I have another 6-1/2 to do. I don't have any friends, but I do have family. I have two daughters. My daughter Heather is 21 years old and she lives in San Antonio, Texas. She is married and has my
1-year-old grandson. She writes me and sends pictures a couple of times a year. My daughter Vernoica is 20 years old and is married and lives in Montana with her husband and my 2year-old granddaughter. She also writes a couple of times a year and sends pictures.

I enjoy reading, any kind of history. I love to read. I love playing chess, watching baseball, football and basketball. I'm somewhat of a sport's buff. I love animals and my favorite dog is a Lab.

I was raised in the City of Whittier. I have six sisters and one brother. We didn't have much growing up, but my mother sure did try a lot of love. My downfall was thinking I could make fast easy money. But look where that got me. I believe I have matured with age. I have passed my G.E.D. and would love to go further with my education. I don't have any money for the books, but I have found other inmates willing to donate their books after they are finished with them. So God willing that will happen. And last of all, I have dropped out of the prison gang I was in, it's a start to changing my life. I believe that's where I needed to start.

I hope to find a Pen Pal friend, someone to talk to and share thoughts with. Thank you and God Bless.

For ten years I've been by myself with no one to talk to on the other side. I go home in March, 2009 and I know nothing about life outside of these walls., Mentally I'm far from ready to go home. I don't think fighting or taking a life makes you a man. With that attitude, prison life is no walk in the park.

About me: I'm 28, black and Native American, with brown eyes and hair – standing 5'9” tall and weighing 205 pounds. I feel it's very important to be open and honest no matter what so I want to acknowledge right away that I've been incarcerated since 1994 for voluntary manslaughter. But I'm looking forward to a new life. I have no kids but I'd love some. I want to be a father and a husband. I have a beautiful personality and a sense of humor too. I'm just looking for someone I can correspond with on all aspects of life. Ordinary happiness - no drama. I've had enough drama to last a lifetime. So please drop me a line, stay strong, and let nature do the rest.

I'm 30 years of age, over 6'2, 226 lbs, solid muscular build. I'm of Afrikan descent with dark brown eyes. I wear a bald head with a goatee mustache neatly lined and trimmed. I'm incarcerated for various charges and am serving a 99 to life sentence, plus 87 years for living what is known as a thug life. Nevertheless stumbling blocks can become stepping stones if we learn from our mistakes, errors, and wrong life choices. Despite my incarceration and the choices that lead to my confinement, I am honest, loyal, intelligent, outgoing and respectful. I love children, a good laugh and the company of positive people. I have a sense of humor, am very energetic, sincere, understanding, open-minded and receptive and willing to explore the unknown and learn things. My hobbies are poetry, writing music and reading. I'm a great
conversationalist and enjoy intellectually stimulating conversation whether it be on the phone or my mail. I study up to 4 hours per day. I'm a 28-year-old man from Pasadena – in prison for the first time and with a life sentence! Reading books on a wide variety of subjects is something I like to do in order to expand my thinking beyond the limited confines of these walls. Writing to a friend on the outside would do that for me too – and more. It would offer me the chance to give as well as receive. There's nothing narrower than prison life but I know there are greater things beyond it and only a very small number of them can come through books.

I have a talent for writing and especially enjoy writing poetry and short stories. I've even dabbled in script writing. Legal work, though, must be my main concern just now, so I spend most of my days submerged in my trial transcripts. Even so, there's always time to write to a friend.
